What We Grind in Minnetrista
Oak, ash and basswood are the three we see most, and they behave differently under the machine. Bur oak on these lots can be two hundred years old with a root flare far wider than the trunk suggests, so the ground area we have to clear is bigger than most people picture. Ash is the volume work, still coming down from emerald ash borer. Basswood is the softest of the three and grinds quickly. When you send a photo, include something for scale next to the stump. On acre-plus lots the size is consistently underestimated, and it is the single thing that changes a quote most.

Winter Work on Large Lots
Frozen ground is an advantage on a property like this. From January through about mid-March the machine can cross turf and soft low ground that we would otherwise have to route around or mat, which means less surface disturbance and often a cheaper job because the setup is simpler. If you have a stump in a spot that is wet most of the year, or one that would mean crossing a lawn you care about, winter is the right time to call about it. Grinding stumps set in rock, debris haul-away and soil installation are limited in the coldest months.

Yes. We lay plywood mats on softer turf when needed, and we make every effort not to disturb the area surrounding the stump or introduce debris into the lake.
