Saint Bonifacius sits on the western edge of the Big Woods belt, the deciduous forest that historically ran from the Twin Cities west through Carver and McLeod counties. Oak, basswood, and sugar maple are still the dominant residential trees here, and a lot of them are old. When one of those oaks comes out, storm damage, age, or just because it's leaning the wrong way, the stump is wide, the root flare is heavy, and the grind needs equipment built for it.
